Our Mission

Rheumatology Fellowship Program
Our Mission

The Rheumatology Fellowship program at Rutgers NJMS trains the rheumatology leaders of the future. Our fellows become clinicians and educators who provide the highest-quality rheumatology care and teaching. The program is designed to support physicians interested in developing academic and clinical careers in rheumatology.

This two-year program combines in-depth clinical experiences and research supporting the Rheumatology department’s mission of delivering the highest quality and compassionate patient care while cultivating learning. Our program's strengths are the diversity of clinical training and faculty support. The clinical experience is focused on outpatient clinics in adult rheumatology, the inpatient consultation service at the University Hospital and East Orange Veterans Hospitals. Research opportunities include clinical research as well as translational projects through Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences.

The overall mission of this program is to produce physicians who:

  1. Are clinically competent in the field of Rheumatology.

  2. Are capable of working in a variety of settings (outpatient vs. inpatient, UH vs. Veterans).

  3. Possess habits of life-long learning to build upon their knowledge, skills and professionalism.
